You will need:
8ply cotton or acrylic yarn in your choice of
colours
I used 8ply acrylic in lemon , beige, cream, black
and white
3.5mm hook
Yarn nee dle
Scissors
Pins
Stitch Markers (optional)
Polyester toy filling

US terms used:
Ch - Chain
SC - Singl e Crochet
Sl St - Slip Stitch
MC – Magic Circle
Inc – Increase (2 sc in same
stitch)
Dec – Decrease (sc two
stitches together)
* * - Repeat instructions
< > - All in same stitch
Blo – Back loop only

This pattern is suitable for all skill levels ! Prior knowledge of basic crochet stitches is
required , and once you get going with the pattern it is repetitive and actually quite
easy.

If you change yarn weight be sure to adjust your hook size accordingly.

The giraffe in my exa mple will end up approx. 17 cm tall , however you can make it
larger or smaller at your discretion.

for my pattern, you will work in a continuous spiral. No need to slip stitch and chain
between rounds.

I hope you enjoy my pattern!

Assembly
Start by positioning the legs at the bottom of the body, facing off to the side but slightly forward.
Ensure they are flat with the underside so your giraffe will sit up. Sew in place. Hide your tails.
Next, pin the arms in place, on sides of the body, back slightly from the legs . Sew in place. Hide your
tails.

Position your s pots where you want them. I have three on the front and two on the back . Sew in
place. Hide your tails.

Cut 3 strands of yarn approx. 15cm long. Insert your hook though
a stitch on th e lower centre back and pull all three strands through
together to make a loop. Bring the ends th rough the loop and pull
tight. Separate strands into 3 lots of 2. Braid the tail to your
desired length and fasten with another piece of yarn into a bow.

Pin the nose on the centre fron t of the face, towards the bottom of
the head. Sew 2/3 of the way around , stuff and finish sewing. Hide
your tails.

Position the eyes approx. three stitches away eithe r side of the
nose but slightly higher (about 1 row) . Make sure the shines
match position on each eye. Sew in place. Hide your tails.

Lastly, I recommend
pinning the ossicones
and ears in place before
sewing to ensure positioning is even. My ossicones are
approx. 6 rows from the starting mc of the head. The ears
are place d 3 rows below the ossicones . Sew in place. Hide
your tails.
